WTG Certification

As part of our obligations as an approved Certificate of Origin Issuing Body, we are reviewing applications where goods are being claimed as originating under a Free Trade Agreement (FTA). This includes claims based on Wholly Obtained (WO), Product Specific Rules (PSR), Change in Tariff Classification (CTC), Regional Value Content (RVC), and other applicable origin criteria.

Under Australia's FTAs, exporters are required to maintain sufficient evidence to substantiate their origin claims and provide that evidence if requested by an Issuing Body or competent authority. The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) has recently published guidance on origin requirements, including information on the use of Wholly Obtained and Product Specific Rules and examples of how origin claims may be substantiated. To assist with our verification activities, for those exporters you apply for Certificates on behalf of you need to provide us with the relevant supporting evidence for the goods. Please see the document requirements below depending on the origin criteria being claimed.

Please note that, depending on the product and origin rule being claimed, more than one supporting document may be required.

 

The supporting evidence may be submitted with each individual FTA Certificate of Origin application for review and approval by the WiseTech Certification Team.

Alternatively, If the exporter regularly exports the same goods and your team submits FTA Certificate of Origin applications for those goods on an ongoing basis, this information only needs to be provided once. The WiseTech Certification Team will retain the evidence on file and apply it to future applications for the same goods, unless there is a material change to the product, manufacturing process, supply chain, or origin determination.

Please be assured that any information provided will be used solely by the WiseTech Certification Team for the purpose of determining origin under applicable Free Trade Agreements. The information will not be used for any other purpose and will not be shared with any other WiseTech Global teams.

Please reach out to your clients today asking them to provide the requested documentation and email on to me no later than Close of Business (COB) Wednesday, 16th September 2026.

Failure to provide the requested information by this date may result in delays in the processing and stamping of future FTA Certificates of Origin while the origin of the goods is being verified.
